Climate Change!

Citi and Chase are the biggest fossil fuel financers in the world

The science is unrefuteable - the burning of fossil fuels is warming our planet, triggering worsening floods, fires, droughts and catastrophic weather.

But without financing, most fossil fuel projects - pipelines, refineries, fracking - would simply not go ahead. This places a moral question before banks: be complicit in the destruction of our planet, or banish fossil fuels from their portfolio.

Banks have been slow to realize the role they play in accelerating the existential threat of climate change and the risk at which they put their institutions as fossil fuels become a riskier bet year by year.

A few ESG funds and greening their offices isn’t going to cut it. Read more on why banks are a huge part of the problem.

Your work is important

Where we work is a huge part of our lives. It doesn’t feel good when your employer is fueling a crisis that is killing, hurting, and displacing millions.

But the good news is, you are uniquely placed to make positive change and have an outsized impact.

The idea that climate change is an urgent issue in banking and can be fixed from the inside is filtering through the ranks at many banks. We have an opportunity to change corporate culture for the better so all employees feel empowered to discuss climate change, take action and ensure that their bank comes down on the right side of history.

Who are we?

We are New York City families fighting for an end to fossil fuels. We want a livable planet for our kids and as our city floods or is engulfed with smoke we are more and more concerned that this goal is slipping away.

We’re working hard to pull the levers of power in government and finance to turn the tide against the fossil fuel industry - because our families’ lives literally depend on it.
